Lil Dicky isn’t your typical rapper – and he wants you to know it.
The “fake it ’til you make it” approach has permeated the rap game for years. Migos, for example, infamously showed up to Gucci Mane’s studio in East Atlanta wearing a bunch of fake jewelry before immediately throwing it all in the trash after Gucci gifted them the chains around his neck before signing the trio.
The goofy, curly haired 29 year old takes a different approach to the game. In an interview with Boston magazine, Dicky explained his brashly alternative approach: “I think a lot of rap is just escalated to a place that many people can’t relate to… My niche is that I’m relatable. I don’t rap about going to the club and popping bottles.”
The Pillow Talking video cost over $700,000 in production costs to make, had over 60 collaborators, and is unlike just about everything we’ve seen before. Check it out below.
