FKJ + Masego = Feels
Watching FKJ craft music in-studio is the closest any of us can get to watching Da Vinci at work on canvas. In his sublime single “Tadow”, FKJ creates a hypnotic and inextricably catchy song that carries his trademark velvety approach with saxophonist and “trap house jazz” flagbearer Masego of Washington, DC. FKJ is one of a new generation of talented multi-instrumentalists who showcase their versatility with impressive audio engineering/production skills, including artists like Tash Sultana and Tom Misch.
Check out the video for his beautiful song “Tadow” – and keep going for more soul stroking music like this below!
FKJ’s Tadow: 100% Improvisation
One of the most impressive aspects of FKJ’s music is his creativity and versatility. This is showcased perfectly in “Tadow”, which FKJ admitted to being fully improvised on his instagram:
“We completely improvised Tadow. We never had played or even thought this song before we played it in this video. It was made in 8 minutes. I started playing those chords and Masego said “Stop ! Press record now”. And here we went for 8 min. It’s not perfect but who cares. We were feeling this moment and the listener/viewer can feel it too. Most time, too much thinking isn’t necessary.”
We know what you’re thinking, and yes – FKJ’s live show is amazing. Unfortunately, FKJ’s US tour this year was only three stops – but with talent like this he will definitely bring his fresh brand of jazz back soon.
