Why We Like It
There’s a real simplicity to “South Side Livin’,” and with his craft, charisma and command of cool, CimplyDan turns that first-principles approach into an asset.
Dan’s lyrical boasts and assured asides bleed into the similarly laidback instrumental, which emanates that same feeling. It feels like Dan just can’t lose, and that’s no surprise — “South Side Livin’” makes more than a couple of allusions to dice rolls, but even when it admits danger and chance, there’s never any real risk of losing. He’s a natural-born winner deep in his element, a gambler on a hot streak that might never end.
At a brisk two minutes, the track doesn’t ride out – instead, it laces glitzy rhymes with ease and kicks back to a contagious refrain, one made all the more potent by the confidence of his delivery. Words and phrases land with sharp specificity, Dan’s inflection and tone putting his precision down to effortless charm. If this is South Side Livin’, then we’ve all been missing out — but at least with CimplyDan on the mic, we can’t say we weren’t warned.

There’s a lot of things I love about Florida! The tremendous amount of diversity has got to be my favorite thing for sure. There are so many different kinds of people coming through it’s like closing your eyes and throwing a dart. You never know what you might hit or not hit. I love learning about new cultures and their musical background. That being said, it’s definitely helped shape my music for sure. I personally create my sound by mashing all kinds of genres and styles together. If you listen to my discography, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. Other than that, I love the beaches, the weather, the women, the views, and the food — it’s unmatched in my book so far.
